The Six Symbols of Saudi National Day 95

Every September, Saudi Arabia unites in green to mark one of its most cherished occasions, National Day. On this day, streets light up with flags, fireworks burst across city skies, and communities gather to celebrate not just history, but identity.

This year, the 95th National Day carries a theme that feels both timeless and urgent: عزّنا بطبعنا - “Our Pride is in Our Nature.” The phrase may sound simple, but behind it lies a rich tapestry of meaning, drawn from values that Saudis carry deep within themselves.

Our Pride Is in Our Nature

The 2025 identity of 95th Saudi National Day does more than decorate posters or banners. It tells a story. Through carefully chosen illustrations, colors, and words, it reflects the essence of the Saudi people: their generosity, ambition, authenticity, and the vision that drives them forward.

To understand why this matters, and how it came to life, let’s look closely at the six symbols chosen for this year’s identity.

The Story Behind the 95th National Day Identity

The official identity for Saudi National Day 95 was unveiled on August 4, 2025, by Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority. His announcement not only revealed the year’s slogan but also made available a full media kit, urging public and private institutions to adopt the unified design in their celebrations.

The phrase عزّنا بطبعنا (“Our Pride is in Our Nature”) was selected to express that national identity is not something borrowed or imposed. It is woven into the everyday lives, interactions, and traditions of Saudis. From the way guests are welcomed with steaming Arabic coffee to the unwavering resilience shown in times of challenge, the message is clear: the Saudi character is both heritage and destiny.

Six Symbols, Six Traits

The identity is built on six visual symbols, each tied to a core Saudi trait. These are not abstract ideas. Each one is grounded in history, culture, and lived experience. Together, they form a visual system that uses bold illustrations, distinct color identities, and supporting patterns to create a cohesive look across campaigns, media, and public events.

Let’s explore each of these six symbols and what they represent.

عزّنا بطموحنا .1

Ambition

Perhaps the most striking symbol is that of Tuwaiq Mountain, chosen to embody ambition. The mountain is more than a natural wonder; it is a metaphor used by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who once compared the ambition of the Saudi people to the immovable strength of Tuwaiq.

“The Saudi's strength is like that of the Tuwaiq mountain, unbreakable, unless this mountain is leveled and equaled to the ground.”

Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman

The illustration shows the mountain rising tall and firm, symbolizing determination, resilience, and the refusal to bend under pressure. Just as the mountain dominates the Najd landscape, so too does ambition shape Saudi Arabia’s modern journey: driving megaprojects, economic diversification, and global leadership in fields as varied as technology, tourism, and sustainability.

عزّنا بكرمنا .2

Generosity

Hospitality is perhaps the most famous Saudi trait, instantly recognizable to anyone who has ever entered a Saudi home. This symbol uses the dallah (traditional coffee pot) and finjan (coffee cups) to represent generosity.

The dallah stands at the center as a timeless icon of giving, while the repeated finjans circling it express inclusivity and sharing. The design conveys more than just serving coffee. It speaks to the Saudi instinct to welcome others warmly, to open doors, and to ensure no guest leaves without feeling valued. Generosity here is ingrained. It is a quality carried from deserts to cities, from family gatherings to national celebrations.

عزّنا بفزعتنا .3

Coming to Aid

Faz’ah is a uniquely powerful concept in Saudi culture. It refers to the instinct to stand up, step forward, and help when others are in need. The chosen symbol shows crossed hands, a gesture made iconic by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The hands are not just a visual cue. They represent solidarity, readiness, and the courage to act in critical moments.

This value is visible in Saudi Arabia’s social fabric, whether in neighbors supporting one another, volunteers rushing to disaster zones, or national mobilization during global crises. It is a reminder that community strength lies in showing up for others.

عزّنا بأصالتنا .4

Authenticity

To represent authenticity, the image of a deeply rooted tree has been chosen. Its branches symbolize generations of Saudis, while its trunk represents the solid foundation of heritage.

Authenticity here does not mean clinging to the past for its own sake. Instead, it speaks to a living connection between past and present. Saudis draw inspiration from their ancestors’ resilience and honor, carrying those values forward even as they innovate and modernize. The tree design emphasizes continuity, reminding citizens that while skylines may change, the roots of identity remain firm.

عزّنا برؤيتنا .5

Vision

No modern Saudi identity would be complete without reference to Vision 2030, the transformation plan that has become a symbol of national progress. The illustration for “Vision” takes its cue from the radiating pattern of the Vision 2030 logo. The design expands outward, symbolizing clarity, progress, and momentum toward the future.

This symbol captures the spirit of a country looking forward with confidence, aligning its ambitions with global partnerships, futuristic projects, and sustainable growth. It is optimism rendered visually.

عزّنا بجودنا .6

Generosity

Generosity is a deeply rooted value in Saudi culture, passed down through generations. It is not only about giving material things but also offering time, effort, and support from the heart. In Saudi life, generosity is expressed in everyday actions: welcoming guests warmly, lending a helping hand without being asked, and finding joy in giving.

This value is symbolized through iconic elements of Saudi hospitality: the ever-warm coffee pot, the open door, and the burning incense. These images reflect a culture where generosity is not just practiced on special occasions but is a way of life, visible in homes, neighborhoods, and communities across the Kingdom.

Why These Six Values?

The six values are not random; they were carefully selected to cover the full spectrum of traits that define Saudi national character. Ambition drives progress. Generosity sustains community. Faz’ah ensures solidarity. Authenticity preserves heritage. Vision guarantees a clear future path.

Together, they create a holistic picture of what it means to be Saudi in 2025, rooted in tradition yet confident in modern transformation. Each symbol is tied to a distinct color palette and accompanied by three secondary patterns, making the identity system versatile for use in logos, decorations, events, and media campaigns.

The Deeper Meaning of عزّنا بطبعنا

The theme is framed as a recognition of lived values. Generosity, giving, ambition, authenticity. These are not abstract lessons taught in schools. They are values inherited and practiced daily. The official narrative links these qualities across generations.

From the early days of Najd and the unification of the Kingdom in 1932 to today’s Vision 2030 era, the message is clear: the same values that built the nation continue to guide its future. It is a reminder that pride is not built on material achievements alone, but on the character of the people themselves.

A Brief History of Saudi National Day

To fully appreciate this year’s identity, it helps to remember what National Day commemorates.

On 23 September 1932 (21 Jumada I 1351 AH), King Abdulaziz issued a royal decree declaring the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. What had once been divided regions came together under one flag, one leadership, and one national identity. Since then, National Day has been celebrated annually on 23 September. It was later recognized as an official holiday by royal order, ensuring that every year, citizens and residents alike pause to reflect on unity, belonging, and national pride.

Over the decades, the day has grown from a historical remembrance into a nationwide celebration filled with parades, cultural performances, fireworks, and public art. Each year’s identity ties the past to the present, giving Saudis a shared visual and emotional language to celebrate with.

Why It Matters Today

The 95th National Day is not just another anniversary. It comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is reshaping its economy, culture, and global role with unprecedented speed. The six symbols offer a roadmap: to stay ambitious, generous, authentic, visionary, and always ready to help.

Saudi Arabia’s message this year is refreshingly clear: beyond its economic growth, iconic projects, and global achievements, the Kingdom’s greatest strength lies in the values and spirit of its people.
